Penang National Park Adventure<\/a>: Mangroves, Wildlife & Rainforest Trekking<\/h3>\n

Experience one of Penang’s unexpected natural gems on this full-day trip that involves cruising the coastline and hiking the forest – find out why we are so passionate about Penang National Park<\/strong><\/a> and how it can immediately transport you from the city into a whole new world!<\/p>\n

You will start your excursion with a scenic drive from your accommodation along the coast from Batu Ferringhi past fishing villages before arriving at the entrance to Penang National Park. After registration you will continue to meet a local fisherman at a quiet fishing village.<\/p>\n

You will cruise through winding and slowly meandering mangrove lined channels – rich ecosystems where you might see white-bellied sea eagles flying overhead, mud-skippers jumping over roots, and maybe a monitor lizard sunbathing at a distance on the banks. The channels seem alive with the sounds of birds, the hustle and bustle of daily fishing life.<\/p>\n

You will then visit open waters to arrive at the beach of Pantai Kerachut – the second entry point into the national park. Depending on the tide and the local fishermen, you may briefly stop and examine the morning’s catch, and learn about the fishing methods that are still very much alive.<\/p>\n

Once you are ready to depart, you will leave the boat behind at Pantai Kerachut to begin a moderate hike through one of Malaysia’s oldest dipterocarp rainforests. You will hike on leafy trails that will lead you past a rare meromictic lake, over wooden bridges above soft gentle streams, and into the hilly forests. Some of the trails are straight up – an incline of 18% – with rewards of views of the local floating fishing village far below, peaking at Batu Ferringhi between the trees.<\/p>\n

The walk is around three kilometers and can take 3-5 hours, based on your pace and rest stops. Along the way, your guide will share stories about the ecological uniqueness and wildlife of the forest.<\/p>\n

This tour will be a breath of fresh air – literally and financially – as you will enjoy a blend of sea, forest, and culture, available only a stone’s throw from Penang’s urban edge.<\/p>\n
